Global Illumination - Animation

This room was simply created to attempt and produce an animation using Global Illumination lighting techniques. It worked. The 3d model was constructed and animated in Discreet's 3DS Max 4 and the rendering was done using Final Render.

The fire in this animation was created using Phoenix from DIGIMATION, a plugin for 3DS Max.

What is Global Illumination?
Global Illumination or (GI) is a light calculation method that allow 3D applications to render very true to life images. Such as this girl above. Yes she is 100% 3D rendered.

GI features amoung other things "sub-surface scattering" a technique where light can penetrate your 3d model and have it glow, kind of like skin or transparents liquids do.

There are more GI examples in the still renderings section.
